Battery Replacement

Step 1

  • Turn off the device

Step 2

  • Flip device over and remove 8 screws from the bottom cover

Step 3

  • Open device and gently pry up the palmrest assembly

Step 4

  • Move palmrest assembly forward, exposing the battery that needs to be replaced. Tip: You can disconnect the palmrest assembly to make the repair easier by disconnecting the trackpad and keyboard cables from the motherboard

Step 5

  • Disconnect the battery cable from the motherboard

Step 6

  • Remove 2 screws at the top of the battery

Step 7

  • Remove 2 screws at the bottom of the battery also holding the speakers in place

Step 8

  • Lift battery from the device. Note: Speaker cables will be routed in the battery, be sure to remove the battery gently

Step 9

  • Lift the speakers slightly and place the battery in the device. Route the speaker cables back into the battery

Step 10

  • Replace all of the screws

Step 11

  • Connect battery cable to the motherboard

Step 12

  • Snap palmrest assembly back into place. Make sure to first connect the trackpad and keyboard cables to the motherboard if you disconnected them earlier

Step 13

  • Flip device over and replace 8 screws
