Step 1


  • Turn off the device

Step 2


  • Flip device over and remove 8 screws from the bottom cover

Step 3


  • Open device and gently pry up the palmrest assembly

Step 4


  • Disconnect the Battery cable

Step 5


  • Disconnect the Keyboard cable by lifting the black tab on the motherboard connector

Step 6


  • Disconnect the Trackpad cable by lifting the white tab on the motherboard connector

Step 7


  • Remove Palmrest Assembly

Step 8


  • Disconnect the Speaker cable

Step 9


  • Disconnect the Daughterboard cables by lifting up the black tabs on the motherboard

Step 10


  • Disconnect power cable

Step 11


  • Disconnect the LCD Cable

Step 12


  • Unscrew WiFi Card and separate from the motherboard

Step 13


  • Remove 6 screws holding the Motherboard in place and remove the bracket covering the USB-C port

Step 14


  • Place the new Motherboard in the device and replace the bracket

Step 15


  • Screw the Motherboard back into place

Step 16


  • Replace the WiFi Card and screw it back into place

Step 17


  • Reconnect the LCD Cable. Make sure to route the cable around the hinge

Step 18


  • Reconnect the Daughterboard Cables

Step 19


  • Reconnect the power cable

Step 20


  • Reconnect the Speaker cable

Step 21


  • Connect the Keyboard and Trackpad cables to the motherboard

Step 22


  • Connect the Battery cable to the motherboard

Step 23


  • Snap palmrest assembly back into place

Step 24


  • Flip device over and replace 8 screws
